Sharon Firebrace is ’Razor Sharp’, on the cutting edge of current affairs to unpack the imposing issues affecting all Australians , Kool and Deadly.
An eminent Yorta Yorta woman, Sharon has post graduate qualifications in Education from Melbourne University and is currently a PhD Candidate at RMIT University. She founded Palm River Pty Ltd, an Aboriginal focused public relations company and co-ordinated the Victorian arm of the national Reconciliation movement.
Sharon is a former Chairperson of the Indigenous Land Corporation (ILC); former Executive Director of the Aborigines Advancement League; former Executive Director of the Monash University Koorie Research Centre; and past ATSIC Regional Councillor. Other directorships held include those on the Boards of the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Commercial Development Corporation; Macfarlane Burnet Centre for Medical Research; National Heritage Foundation; and the Addiction Research Institute. Sharon was also Senior Vice-President of the National Council of Women (Vic) and a founding Director of the Australian Council of Businesswomen. In 1994-94 she was awarded National and Victorian Indigenous Businesswoman of the Year.
As a community leader Sharon has participated in global forums, visits and projects, including those in Africa, China, Singapore and the United States of America.
Sharon is also a competitive and high achieving sportsperson, having represented Australia and Victoria in volleyball and netball, and awarded for representing two State level sporting codes in one year.
Formerly a commentator on Aboriginal affairs on ABC radio, and then presenting ‘Razor Sharp’ Monday to Friday on 3knd , Sharon Firebrace is now broadcasting her program globally with each show available for download at SHARONFIREBRACE.COM.
